I am getting somewhat curious here. Is Fuduntu inspired by Ubuntu since the name resembles so closely?
I like the system tray at the bottom. It does resemble the MacOS system menu, and is rather convenient indeed.
Going to follow this blog more closely as this is rather interesting.
Fedora/Ubuntu= Fuduntu
Curious before the download - does this disto use lilo as fedora does? If so - it's a deal-breaker for new users. If you say Grub; I'll hop on it in a heartbeat to see how well it works for newbies.
@detroitgeek - It uses legacy GRUB but not LILO. Fedora stopped using LILO some years ago.
@Henrik - It is inspired by Ubuntu, yes.
Is this version of Fuduntu any different from the version I downloaded on or about May 29, 2011?
it's 'Funduntu14.10RC"
The release media has a few newer packages than the release candidate. If you installed the release candidate and updated normally it would have updated to 14.10 Release.
Thanks for the info, FEWT.
BTW nice distro! I've only run the RC "live" on my 1st gen. Acer Aspire One (8GB SSD) but it seems to work very well.
As far As I know the look and feel is inspired by Ubuntu but the core is fedora.
after 6 attempts at installing, finally got it to boot. then update froze halfway through. message popped up saying 'run yum-complete-transaction as root. would not let me become root after 3 hours of trying! opened terminal and clicked on help...the whole thing froze. that was the final straw, formatted HD and binned installation cd in disgust. shame, it looked so promising, how wrong I was. conclusion..one to avoid. never thought I would say this as a Linux fan but this makes Win**ws look efficient.
Sorry Steve, there is an issue with dracut that caused hangs on some systens. We are working on a fix. Sorry to hear your experience was less than stellar, did you ask for help in the forum?
Hi can you please tell me is there any option to use BTRFS with Fuduntu..
Not for the root file system, no.
How can I get ATI Driver working? Everytime I install it, Fuduntu boots and nothing happens, I get a black screen, then after 1 minute it restarts.. What to do??
